So first and foremost, I just want to say THANK YOU! To the group of machines that came down and helped me build a house for my neighbor Jose. I mean really, these guys from CFC are like a pack of workhorses. Remember the movie Terminator with Arnold? He was like an Unstoppable robot covered in flesh….Yeah! that is what these guys were like when they were working here in Honduras. Just to let you know, You had a big impact in demonstrating Christian love in a real tangible way. So I thank you, and Jose thanks you.
Secondly, I just want to shed some light on why we built this house for Jose. Remember when that pharisee guy in the Bible asks Jesus what was the most important commandment in all of the Scriptures and Jesus was like, “Oh, That ones easy…Love God with your complete being and then love your neighbor as yourself.” Well, that’s really the reason why we did it. Jose is our neighbor and we wanted to show the love of God to him by trying to treat him like we would like to be treated. Jose could have never paid for the house we made him. Jose could never have built a house like that for himself. Some people even think that Jose does not deserve to live in a house like we made him. And who knows, maybe they are right. But it really had more to do with us, his neighbors, wanting to live out the command in scripture to love him as we love ourselves than it did with him. And just to clarify, I’ve still got a lot of work to do on being obedient to this command. But hey…It’s still nice to look across the lawn and see the progress we are making and the smile on the face of this middle-aged Catracho.
Thirdly, I hope the new year is treating you well. We are so thankful for all of your support and prayers and encouragement. We really could not do this without you. Please continue to pray for us. We need it. We miss the fellowship with you all and look forward to the time God brings us together again.
